Alfa Laval has introduced a pressurized exhaust gas recirculation economizer that will help the company improve its fuel efficiency savings through pressurized exhaust gas recirculation to meet Tier III Nox limits.
It is reported that this wide-type high-pressure, series-connected economizer can be installed on the Mann diesel engine and turbine engine before the nozzle is cooled and exhausted before the pressurized exhaust gas is recirculated.
According to Alfa Laval, this means that the economizer can economically recover waste heat while reducing engine load to as low as 30% - and can improve steam quality and temperature and increase the power that can be recovered.
According to John Pedersen, Alfa Laval's Boiler, Combustion and Heater Business Manager, “Aalborg's pressurized exhaust gas recirculation high-pressure economizer even helps ships by reducing the waste heat recovery turning point from medium to low engine load. Alfa Laval believes that exhaust gas recirculation boilers have changed the balance of nitrogen oxide compliance issues.
