[ Instrument Network Instrument Development ] Recently, the Chongqing Institute of Green Intelligent Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National University of Singapore have developed a three-dimensional micro-nano-conformal graphene flexible force-sensitive electrode for high-sensitivity flexible pressure-capacitive tactile sensing. The content was published in the journal ACS Applied Materials & Interface under the journal Flexible, Tunable and Ultrasensitive Capacitive Pressure Sensor with Micro-Conformal Graphene Electrodes, and was selected as a cover paper for reporting (ACS Appl. The flexible tactile sensor provides the robot with the ability to sense the external mechanical environment and is a necessary condition for the robot to realize intelligence. The development of new graphene materials provides a new solution for the development of the next generation of highly sensitive flexible tactile technology. The Micro-Nano Center of Chongqing Research Institute has been working on the controllable preparation technology and application of 2D/3D graphene. In the early stage, the direct growth and flexible transfer technology of 3D micro-nano conformal graphene was developed (J. Mater. Chem. C, 2015, 3, 12379~12384), the three-dimensional conformal graphene film not only has high conductivity, but also exhibits high mechanical reliability, and is an ideal material for flexible electrodes. Recently, the researchers have found through finite element simulation that the microstructured conformal graphene electrode is more likely to obtain the plate spacing and equivalent dielectric constant change in the capacitive mechanical sensor. Through the controllable construction of the characteristic dimensions of the three-dimensional conformal graphene electrode, the research group realized a highly sensitive (7.68kPa-1), fast response (30ms), low detection limit (1mgF), low hysteresis flexible capacitive tactile sensor. The main indicators have surpassed the level of human touch perception.
The tactile sensor can sense the slight pressure changes generated during the crawling of the insect and record the gait information. The sensor can also monitor the pulse wave analysis of its pulse in real time, or use the force feedback to assist the robot to achieve intelligent capture of the object. Compared with the traditional tactile sensor, the sensor has the characteristics of high sensitivity, fast response, flexibility, light weight, and distributed attachment, which can better fit the contoured surface of the robot and give the robot a tactile function. Expand the intelligence and application areas of robots.
