Sinopec and Mitsui Chemicals Japan's bisphenol A project in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, with an annual output of 120,000 tons, is currently the largest bisphenol A plant in the country.
Sinopec has a number of wholly-owned and joint ventures in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, including 200,000 tons/year of phenol-acetone plants. Sinopec has been planning to build a bisphenol A production plant based on phenol and acetone to extend its industrial chain. After the bisphenol A plant is put into operation, it can digest almost 200,000 tons/year of phenol-acetone raw materials, realizing “net-squeezing and net-cleaning†and environmentally friendly production.
On December 16, China's largest bisphenol A plant produced qualified products. The project is the first project of Sinopec and Japan Mitsui Chemicals to invest in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
