The optical transceiver is the terminal equipment for optical signal transmission, which is well applied in the field of security monitoring. With the development of monitoring, the video optical transceiver is a device that converts one to more analog video signals into optical signals through optical media through various codes, and is divided into analog optical transceivers and digital optical transceivers. Among them, the optical transmission system is divided into three parts: a light source (optical transmitter), a transmission medium, and a detector (optical receiver). Then, as an indispensable demand element of the security industry, some problems of optical transceivers cannot be ignored. What should we do if the optical power supply is normal but not working?
A. The monitor has a black screen, and the data and camera control functions are normal.
1. Unplug the fiber from the optical port. If the screen is no longer black but has snowflakes, the optical connection may be good.
2. Make sure the video BNC connection between the optical transceivers is intact.
B. The monitor screen has snowflakes (noise), and the data and camera control functions are normal. This situation indicates that there is a problem with the light part. Continue to follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
1. Unplug the fiber from the optical port of the transmitter and insert a fiber jumper.
2. Plug the other end of the jumper into the optical power meter.
(a) If the reading does not match the indicator, the transmitter has a problem and should be replaced.
(b) If the reading meets the specifications, proceed to the next step.
3. Check the connector. If it is dirty, wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol.
4. Reconnect the original fiber to the optical port of the transmitter. At the receiver side, steps 2 through 3 above are performed. The reading of the optical power meter must be at least the minimum calibration of the input energy of the receiver.
(a) If the reading is slightly lower, the fiber may be defective and should be replaced.
(b) If the reading is very low, the cable may be damaged and replaced.
(c) If the reading is normal, the receiver has a problem and should be replaced.
C, the video is normal but there is a problem with the control of the camera. This shows that the fiber is good. When the fiber attenuation increases, the loss of video will be greater than the loss of control data of the gimbal.
1. Check the TD (Data Activity) LED on the receiver before transmitting the PTZ control signal. When the data is transmitted, the indicator light is always on, or it flashes following your operation. If this is not the case and there is no problem with the electrical connection, the receiver may have a problem and needs to be replaced.
2. When the control signal of the gimbal is sent to the other end of the fiber-connected transmitter, the RD indicator is always on, or flashes following your operation, and the electrical connection is correct, but the control of the camera still cannot If it works normally, it indicates that the transmitter has a problem and should be replaced. If the RD indicator is off, there may be a problem with the transmitter or a problem with the receiver. Communicate with the manufacturer for further guidance.
