Toyota recalls Avalon in China
Airbag Control ECU Hidden in Toyota Recalls Avalon in China
Recently, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ. From April 26, 2014, it will recall some imported Avalon vehicles.
Coverage : Production date is from July 1, 2002 to May 6, 2003. According to statistics of the company, 48 vehicles are involved in the mainland of China.
Reason for recall : The affected vehicle has insufficient electromagnetic wave resistance due to the air bag control ECU. In the course of use, it is affected by the electromagnetic waves generated by the electronic parts related to the electric seat, which may cause damage to the IC chip in the ECU. In extreme cases, it may happen that the airbag is unfolded during driving, or the seatbelt pretensioner is started incorrectly, or both occur at the same time, causing potential safety hazards.
Solution : For vehicles involved in defects, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will arbitrarily install an electromagnetic wave filter for the airbag ECU of the user's vehicle to eliminate hidden dangers.
Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will notify all owners by letter. At the same time, it will contact the users within the scope of the recall through a special distributor to arrange free maintenance. If you want to understand the details of this car recall or have any questions, users can call the Toyota Motor Service Center to inquire, telephone or 400 810 1210.
