Shanxi Province opens 25 key laboratories to the public

The reporter learned from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology that during the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Week on May 14-21, 25 key laboratories in Shanxi Province will be open to the public. Key labs will use academic lectures, interactive open experiments, and collectives. Visiting activities and other ways to get out of the ivory tower, close to the people.

According to Li Min, the Basic Research Division of the Science and Technology Department of Shanxi Province, the opening of key laboratories has been held for five consecutive years. The State Key Laboratory of Coal Conversion, State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Light Quantum Devices, and State Key Laboratory of Advanced Stainless Steel Materials The scientific research capability is very significant at home and abroad. “Key laboratories are gathering places for scientific and technological talents and science and technology. They are open to the public and are conducive to science to get out of the ivory tower.”

Dr. Bai Jin of the State Key Laboratory for Coal Conversion in the Shanxi Coal Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will give a public lecture on “Coal and Humanity” to the public during the Science and Technology Week. “Coal is a gift that the Earth has undergone for hundreds of millions of years of transition to humanity. Up to now, 25 key laboratories have been established in Shanxi Province, including 3 national key laboratories, 3 state key laboratories fostering bases jointly established by the provincial and ministry, and 19 key laboratories in Shanxi Province. These key laboratories received a total of 5,310 visits to the people last year.
